Many women consume unhealthy foods during pregnancy without knowing the bad effect of these food in pregnancy.
These are unhealthy foods you should avoid in pregnancy;
1.Undercooked or Raw Fish:Like what we see in sushi,canned fish etc.. These type of fish maybe contaminated with parasite which are capable of causing infection leaving the pregnant woman at risk when she consume them.
2.Raw eggs:Which are found in homemade mayonnaise, salad dressing, homemade ice cream,cake icings,
Raw eggs can also cause salmonella infection if its contaminated by salmonella,these infection can lead to fever,nausea,vomiting,stomach cramps and diarrhea.
3.Undercooked,Raw and Processed meat, just like undercooked fish.This type of meat can be infected with bacteria and other parasites which may threaten the health of your baby,possibly leading to stillbirth, some babies who are exposed to such infection maybe born blind or have an epilepsy due to build up of toxins from this parasites which managed to get through to the baby during pregnancy.
4.Caffeine:caffeine are mostly found in coffee, soft drink, tea and coco, Pregnant women are advised to limit intake of caffeine because caffeine is absorbed very quickly and can pass through the placenta to the baby thereby restricting fetal growth and increasing the risk of a baby being born with a low birth weight.
5.Unwashed foods-surface of unwashed fruits and vegetables maybe contaminated with several bacteria and parasite which are capable of exposing a pregnant woman to come incontact with their toxins.This may put a threat to pregnant women and can expose them to the risk of lossing a pregnancy.
6.Unpasturized milk, some region consume freshly extracted milk from animal which are yet to be pasteurized, this can also contain harmful bacteria. Pregnant women are always adviced to consume pasteurized milk that are free from bacteria.
7.Alcohol:Every pregnant women should avoid drinking any form of alcohol, Consumption of alcohol increases the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnancy
8.Junk Foods,:During Pregnancy,women tend to gain weight rapidly when they consume junk foods,junk food is generally low in nutrient and high in calories, sugar and added fats. Added sugar has been linked to increase risk of developing diabetes(gestational diabetes and heart disease) it may also cause a long term health issues after pregnancy,eat more nutritive and healthy meals during pregnancy.
